Tania Terpylak Scholarship Program

The Tania Terpylak Scholarship Program is a scholarship program of the Heartbeats Jump Rope Team, Inc. (recognized by IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization) c/o 18399 Yorktown Oval, Strongsville, OH  44136  This scholarship program is intended to assist a graduating senior high school student who is active in the jump rope community to attend a post-secondary educational institution by providing a one-time, non-renewable $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to a student entering college in the fall of 2023.

BACKGROUND

Tania Terpylak was a dedicated, enthusiastic, fun-loving and committed member of the Heartbeats Jump Rope Team for 10 years.  Her life was cut short in a tragic automobile accident that took her life on May 8, 2011.  She was 19 years old at the time and enrolled as a student at Akron University.  Throughout her 10 years as a member of the Heartbeats team, Tania participated in many jump rope competitions, including National and World Championships, many workshops and camps.  She was an accomplished athlete and passionate instructor, earning distinction as a National Champion in Double Dutch Freestyle and a Silver Medalist at World Jump Rope Competition.  Her vivacious personality was bright, bubbly and effervescent. She had a contagious laughter that could ease the tension of the most intense competition. Tania dreamed big, lived life to its utmost capacity and enjoyed an inseparable bond with her teammates and friends in the sport of jump rope. Her friendships throughout the world exemplified her vibrant joy of living. Words fall short of describing the magic that she brought to those around her.
